# Modeling Project (MP2) - Variables and Equations
Canvas item text. **DRAFT for Scott's review.** Rename this file to end in `-Canvas.md` when it is ready for canvasync. The DRAFT suffix keeps the autobuild from picking it up early.
- Type: **assignment**, online upload (PDF preferred; images and .docx accepted)
- Group: Modeling Project Work (see the gradebook spec on hold in `Administration/`)
- Points: **1**, complete/incomplete
- Due: **Wednesday 10/7, 11:59 pm MT** (a Wednesday on purpose, so feedback can come back by Friday 10/9, a week before MP3 on 10/16)

## Description
This checkpoint is a short write-up, not a form. Write your own page or two, by hand or typed, following the six sections in the guide, and upload it here as one PDF. Use the section headings so I can find things, and add anything else you want along the way.
1. Your question, at least one sentence
2. The symbols, organized in a table, plus the ideas around the edges
3. The relationships, equations by default, expressions if that is where you are
4. Initial interpretations, units and regimes
5. What changed since the last form, and why?
6. What you need
Start wherever you are. If you have equations, name every symbol and say what every term means. If you have relationships but no equations, turn at least one into an expression or an equation. If you are still settling your question, fix it and name one quantity you could measure. Each of these is complete.
The guide has a worked example on its second page, from Friday's model review of the whale navigation project. Feedback comes back by Friday 10/9 in the words of the rubric on the course page Project Work.
